Moscow, Idaho.

Nationally-recognized Marilyn Lysohir and Ross Coates, will open a show of their work on Friday, December 7 at the Above the Rim Gallery, beginning with an artists' reception from 5 to 7 pm.

Lysohir will exhibit handcrafted female ceramic "dolls" that speak to issues of body image and health. Each doll is tucked into a red fabric bag that includes two small prints by the artist. She will also have hand painted ceramic cups and other items for sale.

She is donating fifty percent of her sales to Camp Goodtimes West, located just north of Spokane, where children with cancer enjoy a free week-long, medically-supervised camping experience. Above the Rim Gallery is waiving a portion of its commission fees to increase the artist's donation to the camp. Coates' work is a series of small and large framed collages; he is also donating a portion of his sales to Camp Goodtimes West.

Lysohir's work is inspired by her family, friends and the working class mileau in which she grew up in Pennsylvania. The art Coates makes evolves from his interest in books and words, stories and writing.

The show runs through February 10. The Above the Rim Gallery is located 513 South Main in Moscow. Hours are 9:30 to 6 Monday through Friday; Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm; Sundays noon to 5 pm.
